ETS offer an innovative and unique approach to monitoring common
problems facing the potable water industry. New Tracing
technology allows the movement of water mass and contaminants
(whether dissolved or particulate) to be monitored and quantified
in a range of potable water environments, from catchment to supply.
With water companies constantly searching for novel solutions for
monitoring, modelling and improving performance of existing assets,
ETS offer a range of solutions for Total Performance Monitoring.
ETS Tracer technology complements
existing methods of modelling and monitoring flow, leakage, network
connections, supply contamination, sedimentation, water quality
and filter integrity throughout the potable water cycle.

With a rapid turn-around of results and versatile technology, ETS
provides a unique problem solving capability for water companies
and engineering consultants alike. Tracer studies often provide
clients with the missing information required to improve efficiency,
water quality and achieve regulatory compliance, whilst minimizing
investigative costs.
ETS' specialist monitoring and Tracer
technology services are currently used in a variety of non-network
environments, i.e. reservoirs / rivers and their surrounding catchments,
pre-treated supply and offline-water treatment works:
Particulate and pathogen contaminant (i.e. Cryptosporidium)
pathways into raw water sources.
Integrity testing of off-line/trial filtration, including
rapid gravity, slow sand and membrane.
Over 3500km of Time of Travel studies for Urban Pollution
Management (UPM).
Flow-path identification for aquifers, boreholes, water courses
and from reservoirs to supply.
Contamination flow and fate information for emergency planning
strategies whether from landfill leachate, discharges, spills
or Foot and Mouth burial pits.
Environmental Impact Assessments
Identification of primary flowpaths and sources of toe drainage
and leakage, providing insight into dam stability.
Monitoring of erosion rates, sediment sinks and sources in
lakes, reservoirs and catchments.
Validation of reservoir models for actual siltation, turnover,
residence times, short-circuiting and flushing times.

PRODUCT UPDATE
ETS' particulate Tracer product is currently entering the
final phase of obtaining regulatory approval from the UK Drinking
Water Inspectorate (DWI), after which ETS will be able to
offer a further range of monitoring and validation solutions
for on-line supply networks. Emerging applications are:
Optimization, mixing, flow balancing, assisted settlement
flocculation and sludge removal studies in water treatment
plants.
On-line filter integrity testing.
Targeted leakage identification.
